Homeowners
At TSG, we do not simply provide homeowners coverage in the event of a loss. Most of our insurers can provide a detailed home valuation for you. Many one-of-a-kind homes often face a wide range of complex structural and design issues. We can assist you in quantifying the replacement costs for this type of construction to assure the proper amount of coverage. We understand the unique needs of those who have more to protect. When you have invested in a home with distinctive features or custom built-in furniture, TSG has the solutions and will provide you with a high level of protection and service in the event of an unfortunate loss.

Method of Claim Settlement
Replacement Cost Valuation (RCV) refers to the method of payment the insurer will make in the event you have property that has been damaged or destroyed in the event of a covered loss. With this valuation, the carrier will pay you the actual cost to replace a destroyed property once replaced. Without RCV, your payment will be made on an Actual Cash Value basis where the payment will be reduced by a depreciation factor and you will not get the full cost to enable you to replace the same or similar property.

Loss of Use
Should you have a claim that makes it unfeasible to stay in your home during repair or rebuilding, insurers provide Loss of Use coverage, paying you the additional cost to live elsewhere. Some of the insurers even pay this no matter how long it may take to rebuild!

Purchasing a New Home?
Don’t forget about the insurance….With all the excitement and stress of selling one home and buying another, this can be easy to forget. Please include us on your list of things to do and call us as early as possible in the buying process.

Renovating?
Please keep in mind when renovating or building an addition to your home that it is necessary to speak with us to assure that your current coverage applies and that it is adequate.

Discounted Premiums are Available
If your Homeowners carrier also insures your automobile, you may be entitled to a discount on both your Homeowners and Auto policies. If we do not currently provide your auto insurance, call us and check out what your savings would be if both were provided by TSG.

Liability Protection
Liability insurance provides coverage in the event someone is hurt in your home as the result of your negligence. It also provides liability protection for you in the event that you cause injury or damage to others away from your residence. Coverage is available for non-business personal liability. Here are a few examples:

  • Your dog bites someone
  • While playing golf you accidentally hit someone with a ball
  • You cause non-business related personal injury liabilities as the result of such actions as libel, slander and invasion of privacy

Co-op & Condo Apartment Owners
Check your Association’s By-Laws
Most people think that they only have to insure their personal belongings. Not true! Most Condo or Co-op Unit Owners need to insure other aspects of their unit such as: additions and alterations you (or a previous owner) may have made in your apartment unit, floor coverings, built-ins, bathroom fixtures, kitchen cabinets, etc. Many policies do not provide coverage for these items and require the purchase of separate coverage. Call your Account Executive to discuss this very important exposure and how it can be properly insured.

Unit Owner Assessments
If there is an assessment charged to all unit owners as a result of a covered loss, coverage through many insurers is available up to $100,000.

Renters
If you rent, rather than own, you’ll need to insure your personal and family belongings against loss.

Valuable Items & Collections
Managing and caring for your treasured items are more than just deciding where to put them. The insurance companies we utilize are experienced and have knowledge about art, antiques, jewelry and other collectibles that may be centuries old. This expertise has enabled TSG to offer the very best of service to our clients who have valuable collections.

Homeowners Offer Limited Coverage For Valuable Items
Even the best homeowners policies are limited with regard to jewelry, furs, fine art and similar items. Your recovery in the event of an unscheduled loss may be limited to a per item or aggregate amount while a specific Valuable Items policy provides superior protection.

Agreed Value
Another advantage of a Valuable Items policy is that we can provide you with an Agreed Amount provision that pays the stated amount shown for an item, enabling you to receive your payment on an expedited basis without any negotiation. In some cases, we can provide you with coverage up to 150% of the amount itemized when items have appreciated in value.

No Deductible
Homeowners policies insure your personal property and your home subject to a deductible. By scheduling your most valuable possessions under a Valuable Items policy (which may often be added to your existing Homeowners policy), any loss payment to you is not subject to a deductible.

Broad Spectrum of Coverage
A scheduled Valuable Items policy protects your scheduled items against a wide spectrum of loss – theft, damage, breakage or even mysterious disappearance. World-wide coverage automatically applies to your valuables wherever you take them.

Flood
While a Homeowners Policy does not cover flood damage, it can be purchased separately through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Nearly 20,000 communities across the country participate in NFIP by adopting and enforcing floodplain management ordinances to reduce future flood damage. In exchange, the NFIP makes federally backed flood insurance available to homeowners and renters in these communities. Many areas are susceptible to flooding, although in varying degrees. In fact, 25% of all flood claims occur in low-to-moderate risk areas. Flooding can be caused by heavy rains, melting snow, overflow of a body of water or by inadequate drainage systems.

Our Account Executives can inform you whether or not your community qualifies and can apply for this coverage on your behalf.

Earthquake
While most of our clients do not reside in what would be called an earthquake-prone area, occasional tremors and small-scale earthquakes do occur. Even these seemingly small incidents can create major damage to foundations and other structural property that are not covered under your Homeowners Policy unless specifically added. Contact us for a premium quotation. The costs will probably be nominal in comparison to the damage that can be sustained.

Automobile
Our staff, licensed insurance professionals, have the experience to provide you with the right coverage at the right price. We provide personal service, whether you are purchasing a new vehicle, filing a claim or just inquiring about your coverage. Our insurers offer many types of credits or discounts, including:
· Multi-Car
· Accident Free Experience
· Good Student Driver
· Defensive Driving Course
· Driver’s Ed (under Age 21)
· Anti-theft Devices
· Daylight Running Lights (DRLs)
· Mature Driver
· Homeowners Policy in same company as your auto (discount on both)
· Air Bags
· College Student away from school without car
· Anti-lock Braking System
· Corporate Car Discount
· Limited Use Discount (more cars than drivers)

We have relationships with insurers who offer superior auto coverage, beyond what mass-marketing insurance companies provide. For example:
· Agreed Value – You and the insurance company agree in advance on the value for your car. That amount is locked in and will apply throughout the policy year. As a result, if your car is completely destroyed in an accident, covered loss or stolen you would receive the full value --- No bargaining, no depreciation and no deductible.
· Airbag Deployment – If your airbag deploys accidentally, no deductible will be charged, even if it deploys as the result of an attempted theft.
· Lock Replacement Coverage – If your car keys are stolen or lost, payment will be made to replace your locks up to a limited amount stated in your policy.
· Original Equipment Manufacturer’s (OEM) Parts – Parts will be OEM parts used to replace any damaged portion of your vehicle. This helps keep up the value of your car.
· Car Being Repaired? Stolen Car? - Rental Expense – Most carriers pay an unrealistic per day limit for a fixed number of days when you rent a car while your own vehicle is laid up for repair as a result of a covered loss or in the event of total theft waiting for the car to be recovered. Some of our carriers have no daily or time limit, just a single limit as high as $5,000 allowing you to rent the same or similar vehicle you have been accustomed to driving.

We at TSG want you to be assured that you can save on out-of-pocket costs and that you have options that give you more control over your insurance.

Do You Own an Antique or Classic Car?
For some people, owning a classic or antique car is as rewarding as driving it. We have access to some of the leading experts in collectors' vehicles. Coverage can be provided on an agreed value basis, assuring you that the value agreed upon at your policy’s inception would be the amount you receive in the event of a covered loss. In addition, we offer policies with no contracted mileage restrictions. Call us with your vehicle’s information for a very competitive quote. If you currently carry your auto insurance with us, you can call your account executive directly.

Umbrella Liability
High Limit Personal Liability Protection
A lawsuit can place your personal property and assets at extreme risk that could extend beyond the liability limits of your Homeowner's, Co-op, Condo Renter’s or Auto or Boat policies. An Umbrella Liability policy offers a high limit of liability protection over and above what is provided under your primary auto, homeowners, boat or other personal liability coverage. The cost is reasonable considering the protection provided.

If you already carry Umbrella Liability insurance with us, we strongly recommend you consider increasing your limit of liability. If you were ever to have the misfortune of seriously injuring someone as the result of your negligence, the protection provided along with the peace of mind that your assets are secure would be invaluable. Given today’s increasingly higher jury awards, it would be a good idea to call us. We will let you know what the cost is to increase your limit.

Employment Practices Liability
The filing of lawsuits by domestic workers alleging sexual harassment or discrimination against their employers is just as prevalent as employees filing similar suits against a corporate or business entity. Where there are children to care for, nannies or housekeepers are commonly employed either full-time or part-time. Homeowners and Umbrella policies do not cover these kinds of lawsuits.

At TSG, we are able to provide protection for our clients by adding this optional coverage to many of the Homeowners and Umbrella policies we offer for claims alleging:
· Sexual Harassment
· Wrongful Termination
· Employment Discrimination
